Also known as the kāmana. They're a pretty neat looking bird you'll sometimes spot floating in the lakes in the south island. I've seen them in wanaka and tekapo. They're also endemic to australia.

They're effectively too weak to walk on land. They build a sort of floating nest out in the water. Pretty amazing stuff.
