Ōtautahi (or Christchurch) - the largest city on the south island.
population: 392,100
The Ōtākaro flows through the centre of the city with parks strewn about on either side. It's one of the more walkable/bike friendly cities I've ever been to and it has so many parks you can't even use them as landmarks. There's a mix of new buildings and some old damaged building since large portions of the city needed to be rebuilt after the earthquake in 2011.
