Te Tapu-nui (queenstown hill) The name translates to mountain of intense sacredness. A trail winds its way up to the top (907 meters). The start of the walk is through a douglas fir and larch forest which clears to tussock and native vegetation. Unfortunately the land is "owned" by some rich family who has a sheep farm, but for now we're allowed to walk up it. My first time walking up a friendly neighborhood cat followed us almost the whole way down the walk -- it had followed another family up the walk. She was a very friendly cat.
